We Are a Little Hard to Describe (1978)

by Salem Community Church

We are a little hard to describe, because we are a little strange.

We are a house church.

We are seeking to be devoted to Christ as whole people.

We are seeking to be biblical.

We are seeking to intertwine our lives in Christian community.

We are seeking to recognize the many gifts of the Holy Spirit to the church.

We are seeking to see each member discipled in their gifts and ministries.

We are seeking to be socially involved, taking responsibility to act in our world.

We are seeking to be stewards, not owners, of our possessions, talents, gifts, time, and persons.

We are seeking to act as a body.

We are seeking to express a unity in Christ which respects the diversity which God has given to the church.

We are seeking to be missionary people, both demonstrating and proclaiming the gospel.

We are seeking to care for, nurture, and affirm each member, recognizing that God wants growth and health for all of us.

We are seeking to live in the unmerited grace of God, for we are sinners.

We are seeking to submit our lives and decisions to one another in the fear of Christ.

We are seeking to see the church's leadership raised up from its midst, indigenously and non-professionally.

We are seeking to worship God, recognizing that we are all priests.

If you are seeking these things, we would be overjoyed for you to come and worship with us.
